We are so pleased that Westfield Scentre Group in SA has once again collaborated with Foodbank SA for their annual ‘Food Drive’ for the third consecutive year. In the month of July, Foodbank SA food donation bins will be located outside each Coles and Woolworths supermarket at Westfield Marion, Tea Tree Plaza and West Lakes. Foodbank will rely upon the generous donations of Westfield visitors and Foodbank supporters in order to meet the continuously increasing demand for food by vulnerable South Australians this winter. This is Foodbanks single largest food drive for 2018.
Currently 102,718 South Australians will go hungry this month. One third of these are children. Our mission is simple – to feed hungry South Australians this winter. Our goal is to reach our donation target of 10 tonne of non-perishable food donations during the month of July.
Key Dates: 2 July 2018 to 31 July 2018
Location: Westfield Marion, Westfield Tea Tree Plaza and Westfield West Lakes. Donation bins will be located in front of Coles and Woolworths at these locations.
What Foodbank need this winter?
The ask is simple – we ask South Australians to ‘share what they can’ by donating a non-perishable item bought from a store, or donating an extra can they have in their cupboard at home. This year we have a shopping list of the foods most needed to help get those vulnerable South Australians we support through the long winter months.
Volunteers are still needed for various shifts during the Westfield Food Drive. We’re hoping you can spare some time to help us collect cans, encourage shoppers to buy and donate an extra can or two and to hand out flyers. You’ll meet some interesting people too!
