We love our volunteers!

Volunteers are truly the core of the Foodbank family. Foodbank simply could not function without our dedicated teams of generous volunteers right across the country.

National Volunteer Week was held 21-27 May 2018. This provided us with an opportunity to celebrate and thank our tireless volunteers. This year’s theme of Give a little. Change a lot. perfectly encapsulated the profound impact of our volunteers, who pick and pack orders, sort fresh produce, re-label products, pack hampers, conduct food drives, provide skilled volunteering and so much more. This ensures that Foodbank can assist more than 102,718 people a month, in South Australia year-round.

On 27 May, more than 100 regular Foodbank SA volunteers attended a volunteer lunch at our Edwardstown warehouse. It was a great opportunity to recognise their support.

We were very pleased that Foodbank SA volunteers were recipients of Premiers Awards for their service to Foodbank SA, including:

  • Robert Shepherd (Bob), Volunteer, Foodbank Mt Gambier
  • Peter Gapp, Volunteer, Foodbank Food Hub, Edwardstown
  • Graham Turner, Foodbank Food Hub, Edwardstown
  • Graham Borgas, Foodbank Food Hub, Bowden & Former Driver
  • Carol Winter, Foodbank Food Hub, Bowden.

This year Foodbank SA volunteers will provide more than 60,000 volunteer hours in South Australia alone.
