At Foodbank SA, we rely heavily on our volunteers, in fact, last year Foodbank SA had more than 56,000 volunteer hours in South Australia alone. We couldn’t do it without our volunteers.
We have undertaken a Q & A with Graham Borgas, Foodbank SA Volunteer.
1.How long have you been volunteering with Foodbank? In what role(s)?
I started as a truck driver delivering from Foodbank Edwardstown, that was close to 2 and a half years ago. For the past 6 months I have been volunteering at Community Food Hub Bowden.
2. What attracted you to volunteer with Foodbank?
What a great way to meet people from all different backgrounds and walks of life, whilst serving the community too.
3. What do you enjoy most about your role?
Meeting people. Being of service to them and working alongside them too. Learning — I never stop learning. Being appreciated for the small help I give to Foodbank by the staff and fellow workers and the people who need to use Foodbank services!
4. What’s a fun fact about you?
I also volunteer at Anglicare SA in their Emergency Assistance & Budget Support program as well as the Cancer Council. I was at the Cancer Council Information Desk at the old RAH and now working in telemarketing and the Cancer Council “In Memorial” program.
When I’m not volunteering I enjoy lawn bowls.
