The Foodbank SA & Westfield Food drive in South Australia was held between 1 July and 31 July. The Westfield ‘Share what you can’ campaign was held at Westfield’s Marion, Tea Tree Plaza and West Lakes centres with food collection points at allocated locations.
TARGET: Foodbank SA set an ambitious target to acquire 10 tonne of donated non- perishable produce for 2017, based on the current need.
OUTCOME: The campaign was highly successful, with direct food donations of around 6,690kg around 3,300kg short of the ambitious target. However, the donated dollars was surprisingly higher than anticipated at $2087.40. This means the total weight of food equated to approximately 8,777kg. This total is enough to provide approximately 17,000 meals to vulnerable South Australians.
